Medstead is one of Hampshire's many picturesque villages. It has its own picturesque church, St Andrews, village store and also a hardware store, well known throughout the district for being something of an Aladdin's cave and which is also home to the village Post Office.

Local pubs: Medstead has its own traditional village pub, The Castle of Comfort, which is found on the little back road behind the church. Light lunches and local beers are served and there is a delightful garden for summer socialising.

A good walk (2 miles approx) along country roads or across the fields will bring you to The Yew Tree, a delightful inn at Lower Wield. Serving local ales and excellent food it also has a nice garden for dining al fresco from where the sounds of the local cricket game can be heard going on over the hedge! In another direction, The Three Horseshoes pub can be found in the village of Bighton (approx 2 miles). Again, serves local ales, food and has a pleasant garden for dining out when the sun shines. Numerous chickens keep children entertained! A short 10 minute drive to Bentworth is The Star Inn which serves good food and occasionally offers jazz entertainment. The Sun Inn at Bentworth is popular with the locals (prior booking recommended) and offers good choice of food in characterful surroundings.

Medstead is criss-crossed by numerous public footpaths - choose from woodland walks through Chawton Woods, country lanes, to those across rolling chalk hills with far reaching views towards the South Downs National Park, Alresford and Winchester.
